MRLG has conducted a capacity assessment survey (CAS) in the form of a self-assessment with most of its partners. The survey has already been completed in Viet Nam, Cambodia and Myanmar and is currently on-going in Laos. Once the survey is finished, a validation workshop is proposed to the partners to share the findings and to have the opportunity to endorse or to contest them. The exchanges about the findings help to reduce some bias that occurred in self-assessments. Though, the main objective of the validation workshops is to identify capacity building demands and how MRLG could meet these demands.
Two of these capacity assessment validation workshops have been organized the 16th March in Hanoi and the 22th April in Phnom Penh. In both workshops, nearly all organizations that have responded to the CAS were present and exchanged about the findings. The participants had a brief introduction on how to deal with the representation of a complex issues in order to understand the necessity to relativise the findings and to exchange together. The participants of both workshops have identified their main capacity gaps. After the exchanges about the findings, the facilitator, Joo Zimmermann, explained that these capacities gaps could be addressed within the Learning and Alliances, the collective action component of MRLG.
The next Validations Workshop are planned for End of May in Myanmar and Laos.
